How we test a game before we recommend it

March 21, 2026 · Lukas Vogel

People ask how we decide what makes the cut. The short answer: time. Every game gets at least a few days of real play across different situations — a quick bus ride, a longer evening session, and a deliberate offline test.

First we install and immediately switch to airplane mode. If the game refuses to start, warns us constantly or breaks saves, we note it and often drop it right there. Offline reliability is non-negotiable here.

Then we play like normal people, not reviewers on a deadline. We want to know if a game still feels good on day three, when the novelty has worn off. That's where a lot of titles fall apart.

Finally we write only about what we experienced. No press releases dressed up as opinions. If a score feels harsh, it's because the game earned it in our hands, not from a spec sheet.
