Great mobile games that work offline

We play through RPGs, puzzles and simulators that run without a single bar of signal, then tell you which ones are worth your storage. Recently our team spent a week with Casinacho Games and wrote up the whole experience.

Emberwald Chronicle
RPG

Emberwald Chronicle

★★★★★ 4.7

Emberwald Chronicle is the kind of RPG you sink into on a long trip. You lead a small party through a fading forest kingdom, recruiting companions and slowly untangling why the woods are turning to ash. The writing is understated but confident, and side characters actually change based on choices you make.

  • Rich, choice-driven story
  • Tactical turn-based combat
  • No connection needed, ever

Questions & answers

How do you choose which games to review?

We look for games that run fully offline and cover a range of genres, then play each one for several days. If something holds up past the first hour and works in airplane mode, it's a candidate. We deliberately mix RPGs, puzzles, simulators and more so the catalog isn't one-note.

Do developers pay you for reviews?

No. We never accept payment for coverage or for a higher score, and nobody can buy a spot in our rankings. Our opinions are based purely on the time we spend playing.

Can I suggest a game for you to cover?

Absolutely — that's how we found some of our favorites, including Casinacho Games, which a reader pointed us toward. Just email us the name and where to find it. We can't promise to review everything, but we read every suggestion.

Is there advertising on the site?

We may run light, non-intrusive ads to help cover hosting costs, but they never influence what we write or how we score a game. Editorial and advertising stay completely separate here.
